Terms
The rules of using VIZO.
These terms describe what you can expect from VIZO and what VIZO expects from you. By signing in and using the service, you accept them.
1. Acceptance
You accept these terms by signing in to VIZO. If you do not accept them, do not sign in. The Privacy page describes how VIZO handles your personal data and forms part of these terms.
2. Eligibility
VIZO is a private, invitation-or-allowlist service for specific groups (such as a graduating class or a club community). You must have a Google account and a verified email address that an administrator has approved either by listing your full email or by listing the domain your email belongs to. Administrators may remove access at any time.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload a reference photo of anyone other than yourself.
- Use VIZO to search for, identify, or track another person without their knowledge and consent.
- Attempt to access albums, search results, or administrative data that you have not been granted access to.
- Probe, scan, or test the security of the service, or attempt to disrupt it for other users.
- Use VIZO for any unlawful purpose or in connection with any content that is illegal where you live.
4. Your face reference
Your reference photo must show your own face clearly enough for the matching model to compare it against the photos in the albums you have access to. The reference is private to your account. You can replace or remove it at any time from your Face settings.
By uploading a reference photo, you confirm that the photo is of you and that you are authorised to provide it to VIZO for the purpose of finding your own photos.
4a. Self-service verification
VIZO offers an optional self-service verification flow that lets you add or replace your own reference photo without help from an administrator. By clicking I agree on the verification consent screen you explicitly consent to VIZO processing your face landmarks, a short head-motion signal timeline, and the decoded Code 128 barcode of your card in your browser, for the purpose of issuing a single-use verification token. Details of what is and is not sent to the server are in the Privacy page.
You may decline the verification flow at any time before granting camera access; declining returns you to your settings without any data being processed or stored. A verification token is valid for 24 hours and is consumed when you use it to upload a reference photo; a second upload requires running the flow again.
You agree not to use the verification flow to impersonate another person, to bypass the consent screen, to tamper with the liveness engine running in your browser, or to attempt to mint a verification token without genuinely completing the flow.
5. Albums curated by administrators
The albums available to you are added and maintained by a VIZO administrator. The administrator is responsible for having the right to share the photos with VIZO. VIZO does not own, host, or claim any copyright in those photos; the originals remain with their source (a Lightroom album, a Google Drive share, or wherever the administrator obtained them).
An administrator may add, refresh, or remove albums at any time. VIZO does not guarantee that any specific album will remain available to you.
6. Service availability
VIZO is provided as-is and as-available. There is no service level commitment. The service may be interrupted, modified, or discontinued at any time, with or without notice. Bug reports are welcome; commercial SLAs are not offered.
7. Intellectual property
VIZO, including its name, design, and the source code of the platform, is the work of its maintainer. The maintainer grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service in accordance with these terms. You retain all rights to the photos you upload as your reference and to any of your own data stored in your account.
8. Termination
You can stop using VIZO at any time by signing out and, if you wish, removing your face reference from Face settings. An administrator may remove your access to the service for any reason. If your access is removed, your session will be revoked the next time it is presented to the server.
We may suspend or terminate access for users who violate these terms, who abuse the service, or whose continued access creates a security or legal risk.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
VIZO is a convenience tool. We do our best to find your photos correctly, but matching results may include false positives (photos that look like you but are not you) or false negatives (photos of you that were missed). You are responsible for confirming a match before relying on it.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, VIZO and its maintainer disclaim all warranties (express or implied) and shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service.
10. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes to these terms, we will update this page and link to the new version from the footer of the site. Continued use of VIZO after a material change indicates that you accept the updated terms.
11. Contact
For questions about these terms, to report abuse, or to request takedown of content you believe should not be in VIZO, please contact the VIZO operator through the channels listed on the VIZO deployment record in the project repository.
